Julie BraytonPaintings

Large abstract canvases, built in layers until the surface holds its own light.

The work

Paint laid down thickly, then opened back up to the light.

Julie Brayton paints large-scale abstractions on canvas — colour worked wet into wet, scraped back, and rebuilt until a passage of weather or water settles out of it.

She comes to the easel from twenty years inside high design, and it shows in the scale. These are paintings made for rooms: sized to a chimney breast, a stair landing, a long dining wall.

Every canvas here is an original and one of one. Works are sold directly from the studio.
